Let’s walk on Casanova and Goldoni’s steps during the 18th century Carnival: Theatres, the Fenice Opera house and papier maché masks
In the 18th century the Venetian Carnival lasted about six months a year: there were games, festivities, decadent parties, mask balls and theatre comedies.
We will lead you on a tour tracing Casanova’s adventures with the visit of the Fenice Opera House and the districts depicted within Goldoni’s plays.
On the way we will stop and visit an authentic Venetian papier- machè mask atelier where we will tell you the story and the anecdotes of the masks and we will show you how they are still made like in the past.
