The islands of the Lagoon and the Mose Project
The history of Venice started from its lagoon and its islands. This tour will introduce you to the amazing Venice Lagoon, where you can see its fragile ecosystem and its structural problems. We will see the Moses System designed to defend Venice from the high waters (mobile barriers, gates raised if necessary to prevent frequent floods). You will see our favorite glass blowing factory and furnace at Murano island very famous for the history of glass and glass making; then we will continue to Burano a lovely, colorful, fishing island where to admire traditional lace and wonderful linen handcrafted by a very good friend of ours. The last stop will be on Torcello, the island considered the mother of the lagoon where to visit the oldest Cathedral with magnificent glass mosaics.
